Adam Smalley continued his dominance of the 2018 Ginetta Junior Championship with two wins from three races at Croft Circuit.
The Ginetta Junior Championship headed to Croft, North Yorkshire for Rounds 10-12 of the 2018 Championship, the final round before the annual BTCC and support series Summer Break.
Smalley set the 2nd fastest time in Qualifying but was promoted to 1st on the grid for the opening race of the weekend, following a grid penalty for Ruben del Sarthe.
Smalley was on top in the classification regarding 2nd Fastest Laps, meaning he would start the later races once again from pole position.
In the first race, Smalley sprinted away from pole position into the lead. He extended this advantage as the race unfolded out front – in the end taking a comfortable victory from lights-to-flag with a dominant performance. Smalley won ahead of Elite Motorsport teammate Fin Green by a huge 7.5s at the flag.
Race two was another serene performance by Smalley, once again getting a great start and pulling away from his rivals behind, taking the fastest lap in the process along the way despite being without a slipstream for the entire race. In a second straight forward race for Smalley, he took the victory by 2.8s over Luke Browning as he made it 2/2 so far at Croft.
The third and final race of the weekend, it was Browning who got the jump on Smalley at the start of the race – meaning the Elite Motorsport driver was in a three-way fight between Green, Browning and now Patrick Kibble.
Smalley moved up into 2nd position challenging for the lead, but was hit by Kibble – the resulting contact knocked Smalley back down to 10th position. Smalley managed to recover well to salvage 6th position at the flag and limit the damage.
At the half way stage of the championship, Smalley leads the Ginetta Junior Championship on 332 points – 38 ahead of nearest rival Louis Foster, as the championship heads into the Summer Break.
Smalley will be back in action on the 28-29 July at Snetterton, where the championship restarts for the second half of the 2018 season.
