Adam Smalley had a strong start to his GT World Challenge campaign at Circuit Paul Ricard on the 6-7 April.
The weekend started with a busy qualifying session with 53 other cars on circuit at the same time. Practice went well but what counted was qualifying. Adam was in the car first and put together an amazing lap which saw him qualify 3rd overall and 1st in class in his group. An impressive debut against the world's hardest competition. Next up was his team mates' James Cottingham & Louis Prette. They both put together strong laps which on combined times saw they qualify 7th overall and pole in class.
They lined up pole in class on the 54 car grid on Sunday which took the competiton by surprise. Louis started the race and maintained position for the first few laps. Unfortunately the car ran into a few issues after the first hour which meant by the time James' had completed his stint and Adam got in, the car was out of contention for a strong result which they deserved. Nevertheless it was a strong debut for the 188 car which proved their capabilities on a world stage. The team are now motivated to bounce back at the 24hrs of Spa on the 29-30th June which will be Adam's biggest challenge to date.
